Trail Report: Friday, June 20
June is often a moody time in Revelstoke. Warm days can be punctuated by intense storms that leave dramatic skies in their wake. It doesn't rain a lot, but when it does, it comes down hard. This is perfect for riding, because it means we enjoy pleasant weather and tacky dirt. This June is no exception. As we transition to summer, the long-term forecast shows seasonally cool temps with sporadic rain, so the riding should continue enjoying that glorious brown pow for a few more weeks!
Here's what our trail crew got up to this week:
They started on Lower Macpherson, re-routing Lower Quarry around a big tree that came down in a storm.
Over on Boulder, they cleared debris off Sisyphus and brushed alongside all the trails under the powerlines.
Up higher, Redneck's Revenge and Iron Lotus both received some serious brushing and raking. You can now enjoy better sightlines and way fewer chundery loose rocks on those trails.
Redneck's also got some nice rock armouring to fix up some rutted sections.
Looking ahead, we'll keep trying to do dirt work as long as the soil stays moist. If it dries up, we've got lots of brushing to do and some bridge projects in the works for summer. As usual, please let us know about any trail problems in the comments so we can add them to the priority list.
Finally, we'd like to remind you of a couple events this week:
The upper mountain at Revelstoke Mountain Resort opens Saturday, June 21.
The Tantrum Ride Co. Summer Enduro Series kicks off Wednesday, June 25.
Happy Summer Solstice!
